How to Invest on the Capitec App

Investing your money can sound like something that’s only for rich people in suits, but that’s not true anymore. Thanks to new technology, anyone with a smartphone can start investing, even with a small amount of money. If you have the Capitec app, you already have a powerful tool in your pocket to begin growing your wealth.
So, how do you invest on the Capitec app? The short answer is that you use a service called EasyEquities, which is built right into your Capitec app. You just need to find the EasyEquities "widget" in the app, sign up, and you can start buying shares in big companies. It’s designed to be simple and easy for everyone.
Getting Started with Investing on Capitec
Capitec has partnered with EasyEquities to make investing accessible to all South Africans. You don’t need a lot of money to start. I remember when I first started investing, I was a bit nervous. I began with just R50 in a company I knew, just to see how it all worked. It was much easier than I expected, and it was exciting to see my ownership, even a tiny piece, in a well-known brand.
Here is a simple step-by-step guide to start investing on your Capitec app:
1. Find the EasyEquities Widget: Open your Capitec app and sign in. Tap on "Explore" at the bottom of the screen. Scroll down until you see a section called "Widgets" or "Partners," and tap on "EasyEquities."
2. Add the Widget: Tap the "Add" button to add the EasyEquities widget to your app's home screen. This makes it easy to access later.
3. Sign Up: The first time you open the widget, you will be asked to sign up for an EasyEquities account. The process is quick and easy because they can use your Capitec information to verify you.
4. Transfer Funds: Once your account is set up, you need to move money into it. You can easily transfer money from your Capitec savings account directly to your EasyEquities account within the app.
5. Start Investing: Now for the fun part! You can browse through a list of different companies and funds. You can buy shares in famous South African companies or even big international ones. Choose a company, decide how much you want to invest, and tap "Buy."
It’s really that simple. I use my Capitec app for almost everything, so having my investments there just makes sense. It’s as easy as when I had to reverse a debit order on the Capitec app; a few taps and it was sorted without any fuss.
Taking the first step to invest is a great move for your financial future. And while you're making smart money moves, why not earn a little extra on the side? I’ve been using the Points Castle app to do fun surveys and play games to earn points. I then cash out these points for vouchers, which helps with my monthly budget.
