How to Dispute a Debit Order on Capitec

It’s a terrible feeling when you see a debit order you don’t recognize go off your account. It happened to me a few months ago, and my heart sank. Luckily, I bank with Capitec, and they make it pretty easy to dispute these kinds of things. If you're in the same boat, don't worry, I'm here to help you through it.
You can dispute a debit order on the Capitec app. It is a quick and easy process that you can do from the comfort of your home. You can also visit a branch or call their customer care line if you prefer.
How to Dispute a Debit Order on the Capitec App
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to dispute a debit order using the Capitec app:
1. Open the App: The first thing you need to do is open your Capitec app and sign in.
2. Go to Transactions: Once you’re in, tap on the "Transactions" or "Transaction History" button.
3. Find the Debit Order: Scroll through your transactions to find the debit order you want to dispute.
4. Select the Transaction: Tap on the debit order to open up the transaction details.
5. Dispute the Debit Order: You should see an option to "Dispute Debit Order." Tap on it.
6. Follow the Prompts: The app will then guide you through the rest of the process. You’ll need to provide a reason for the dispute, so be sure to have that ready.
I remember the first time I had to do this, I was a bit nervous, but the app is really user-friendly. It only took me a few minutes to complete the whole process. It’s important to note that you have up to 40 days after the debit order has gone through to dispute it. So, if you see something you don’t recognize, don’t wait around, sort it out as soon as possible.
If you’re not comfortable using the app, you can always go into a Capitec branch or call their 24-hour client care team on 0860 10 20 43. They’ll be able to help you out. For a more detailed guide on this, check out our post on how to reverse a debit order on the Capitec app.
It's always a good idea to keep a close eye on your bank statements to make sure there are no unauthorized debit orders. Every little bit of money saved helps, and that's why I love using the Points Castle app. I can do surveys, play games, and enter sweepstakes to earn points that I can use to get free vouchers. It's a great way to make my money go a little further.
